Hi ...Dear ... alfred-georg ...!!! Your Fantastic Art work ... white hands is featured in Action-Portraits...!!!... There is an surealistic identity here ... Very Intense...!!! if you don't mind... best regards.....................You're most welcome in Action-Portraits...!!!
Great piece. Is this a follow up to some of the previous pieces like this.. or shot around the same time but posted late?
I like the anonymity of the censors now. It's almost like the arms that wants to stop her are the pale, gaunt hands of the dead reaching at her. The ancestors of rich conservative housewives that think a black woman shouldn't be seen for what she is: a woman, a mother, a human being; ancestors who felt at home on plantations sporting a hefty slave staff.
Yeah, I like the idea of the old reaching back from the past and dragging her back into the darkness of time and history... there is a certain creepiness to it. This time she seems less resistent, more.. confused or contemplative.. almost as if she knows she can't win...
Great piece though. Always love your work(i don't comment on all of it to save you some grey hair )
Wonderful, provocative, ambiguous images leave lots of room for contradictory interpretations, none of which really require the validation of authorial intent to satisfy each viewer at the expense of the next.
I'm not sure what you are getting at here, but to clarify, my only inquiry of the artist was if this piece was done during a previous shoot that i offered my interpretation for, or if it was done long afterward. It doesn't really show intent so much as help me grasp a mental timeline for the work.
I do love the ambiguity of the work, as a lot of his pieces has this. When I throw an interpretation down it isn't to guide to influence others, but to pay homage to the artist and his excellent craft by giving something back besides a mere " wow great"! I hope others do the same, collectively, the varied interpretations and metaphors a single work can have could be staggering, fascinating, and (hopefully for Alfred) inspiring.
Groped by society, huh? Or am I totally missing it?
lol either way, a very evocative piece. I'm never quite the good interpreter, for I feel there are too many factors to consider an an artists message, but the concept alone is stunning. A work of true beauty.
